Success with Standards
The following case studies are examples of the ingenuity and effort that the defense standardization community put in to develop and use common specifications and standards to provide support to the warfighter.

  • DSP-CS-19: Alternative Sustainable Plating for Electrical Connectors
Working with SAE International committee members and the Services, the Defense Logistics Agency developed new specifications to define the requirements for sustainable, cadmium-free electrical connectors needed for use in hundreds of demanding military systems.

  • DSP-CS-20: Common Parts Catalog for Industry Shipyards
See how four industry shipyards and the Navy collaborated to develop a Common Parts Catalog (CPC) tool to promote parts standardization and management through data sharing to dramatically reduce inventory, design, engineering, and life-cycle costs across the U.S. marine industry.
