Commercial Item Descriptions

Q: The General Services Administration (GSA) canceled a CID that my activity needs for procurement. What can I do?
A: First, you should contact GSA and ask if they would reinstate the CID. If not, GSA will normally grant permission for DoD to reinstate the CID following the reinstatement procedures described in paragraph C5.9.10. of DoD 4120.24-M, Defense Standardization Program Policies and Procedures.

Q: Can a commercial item description (CID) be the implementing document for an international standardization agreement?
A: Yes. Make sure you identify the applicable international standardization agreements which the CID implements in the notes section of the CID using the standard paragraph found in Chapter 5, paragraph 53, of the Federal Standardization Manual published by GSA.
